FDA approves generic aromatase inhibitor

Bloomberg Businessweek reports that the FDA has approved two generic forms of AstraZeneca's Arimidex, an aromatatse inhibitor used as treatment for postmenopausal, estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. According to the report, the FDA has approved two generic versions containing anastrozole, the active ingredient in Arimidex - one produced by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., and one by Mylan Inc.
